Sai Balu Sai Balu is the Facility Director for the Bioinformatics Core at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. He joined Lineberger in 2005. The Core, then a group, had 4 people. Now the Core has grown into 16 people with “Big-Data” analytics capabilities. He is currently enrolled in a PhD program in Health Informatics, Project link: cancermatics.unc.edu He has experienced and survived deadlines for The Cancer Genome Atlas project and two submissions of the competitive National Cancer Institutes<92> Cancer Center Support Grant.
Sai earlier worked in various capacities for the Research Computing and Research & Development divisions of UNC Chapel Hill. His interests in the past have been black&white photography, flying and pre-1820 American History. His current interests are programming the Raspberry PI, kayaking and collecting wall posters during his travels. He is a graduate of Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, India and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA.
